Top 10 Best Places to visit in Palawan part 1

If you are wondering what are the best places to visit in Palawan, then you are not the only one who have this is in mind. After this travel blog was published online last week, I received emails from local and foreign travelers asking me where they could swim, dive, snorkel, and hike in Palawan. For them not to be disappointed, I did some research and asked some of my Palawenos friends of the most visited places in Palawan. So here are they folks, the top 10 best places to visit in Palawan.

The beautiful and amazing Puerto Princesa Underground river of Palawan

1. The no. 1 on my list is Puerto Princesa Underground River.
This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the new 7 wonders of nature. This place is a 2 hour drive from Puerto Princesa to Sabang, where you will take a boat from Sabang to bring you to Puerto Princesa Underground River.

Make it sure you book in advance because they already limit the number of tourists in a day. Aside from visiting the underground river, you can also do jungle trekking, wildlife watching, adventure caving, visiting an ethnographic museum, and many more. You can visit the following websites to get more information about this place:

Giraffe and zebras grazing together at Caluit Island

2. If you want to see a mini safari in the Philippines, then a visit to Caluit Island will be a great experience.
This island is in the northern part of Palawan and was declared a game preserved and wildlife sanctuary in 1977. You will see here African animals like giraffe, zebra, calamian deer including python, monkey, crocodile, bear cat, wild boar, porcupine and the Philippine eagle. For more information, kindly visit the official website of Caluit Island

The beautiful and crystal water of El Nido beach Palawan

3. El Nido is a first class municipality in Palawan because it is compose of beautiful beaches which is the major tourist destination in the Philippines.
It has 45 beautiful islands that looks like the famous island of Krabi in Thailand, and Ha Long Bay of Vietnam. According to TripAdvisor – a respected online travel forum, the top 5 rated El NIdo beaches are
  • Nacpan Island
  • Big Lagoon
  • Small Lagoon
  • Entalula Island
  • and the Hidden Beach.
These are the most visited beaches in El Nido because of the various activities that visitors will enjoy. Some of the activities are snorkeling, diving, fishing, and boating. I recommend that you visit this website to gain more information about El Nido.

4CrocodileFarm (45)

4. Crocodile Farm in Puerto Princesa is a good place to learn more about crocodiles.

You will see here big and small crocodiles that were caught in fresh and saltwater. Aside from the crocodiles, they also keep different native birds of Palawan, a mini display of animal bones, and some Palawan animals that are kept in cage. One of my friend told me that you can drop by in a restaurant inside the park and try to eat a crocodile meat that they are selling. Despite of some improvements that need to be done at the center, visiting this place will tell you that Palawan is really a haven for animals like the crocodiles.
For more information, you can read this blog about Josiah’s experience of visiting the Crocodile Farm.

Tabon Cave the cradle of the Philippine civilization

5. Tabon Caves are known as the cradle of human civilization in the Philippines.
The caves are located at Quezon, Palawan and were discovered by Dr. Robert Fox and his archaeological team of the National Museum of the Philippines. If you are a person who enjoys history and archaeology, or you are curious to know about the Philippines early ancestors, then this place is a good visit.
You must also remember that going to the caves is for a person who is in good shape. Why? Because you will do some hiking.

You can read in this website of Jasper Walker’s experience about Tabon Caves.

So what can you say about Palawan? It is indeed an amazing place for you to enjoy boating, swimming, snorkeling, wildlife watching, and caving.

Come and visit us in Palawan and see those beautiful and wonderful  places I’ve just mentioned.
